Don’t Forget: Your December SSI Payment is on November 29
If you’ve noticed unusual timing with your SSI payments this year, you’re not alone!
The Social Security Administration (SSA) adjusts payment schedules when the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday.
Here’s what happened:
- December’s payment is coming early. Since December 1 falls on a Sunday, the SSA will issue your payment on Friday, November 29.
- This adjustment means two payments in November and none in December—a quirk in the SSI schedule.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such a shift this year. SSI recipients also received two payments in August to account for September’s first-of-the-month falling on a weekend.
While these changes can be a bit confusing, the total benefits remain the same for the year. Just be sure to plan ahead to account for the gaps in December!
